Jody Green, the Executive Director overseeing Reliability Services at ACES, brings more than two decades of rich experience in the energy industry to ACES. After 16 years at Progress Energy/Duke Energy, Jody transitioned to ACES nearly seven years ago, drawn by the professional, family atmosphere.
His responsibilities at ACES revolve around ensuring NERC compliance, oversight, and support for ACES, NERC consulting for ACES’ Members and Customers, supporting transmission studies, and conducting load flow analyses. While NERC and grid reliability have been central to his career, Jody’s roots trace back to power plants, where he specialized in engineering and held leadership positions in instrumentation, environmental health and safety, and chemistry lab management.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jody’s love for travel shines through. Having explored various corners of the globe, from the United States to Egypt, with upcoming plans to visit Greece and beyond, he treasures the blend of cultural immersion and adventurous experiences.
A family-oriented individual, Jody wears the hats of a devoted dance and basketball dad to his children. His multifaceted persona extends to his love for show bands, stemming from his past involvement in the band at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
In the workplace, Jody values the family atmosphere at ACES, where personal recognition from the CEO is not a rarity. He strives to create a proactive environment at ACES, encouraging his teams to be anticipatory rather than just responsive.
Jody’s advice to newcomers emphasizes exploration and exposure across various facets of the company before committing to a career path. He advocates for a broad understanding of roles and environments to allow employees to make informed career decisions. “It will prepare you so that when opportunities become available, you will be able to recognize the opportunity and you will have had time to build the skills necessary to compete for the opportunity,” say Jody.
