APM’s Regulatory Services Group focuses on the activities in organized energy markets (ISOs and RTOs), as well as on the mandatory reliability standards enforced by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
APM Regulatory Services
Some of the specific services provided by the Regulatory Services Group include:
- Monitoring and analyzing regulations, rules, policies, proposals, procedures, decisions and standards, and recommending effective business strategies and responses (ISO/RTO and non-ISO/RTO markets)
- Providing external representation and support to owners and customers through participation in ISO/RTO stakeholder groups, regional reliability organizations and industry groups
- Performing research of statutes, regulations and rules to assist owners and customers with regulatory filings
- Provide timely reporting to members and customers, as applicable of regulatory and market changes that may impact them
- Managing reliability standards compliance programs (where authority has been delegated to APM)
- Actively participating on APM implementation teams for new markets and market redesigns to ensure member and customer preparedness

- CAISO Market Surveillance Committee
- Credit Subcommittees at all ISOs/RTOs
- EEI Drafting Committee
- SPP Market Working Group and Market Implementation Task Force
- NAESB Board of Directors and several Task Forces
